Acupuncture & Moxa

Originating in ancient China, acupuncture involves pricking the skin or tissues with needles to alleviate pain, and to treat various physical, mental, and emotional conditions. Moxa is the traditional other half of acupuncture. When ignited, the warmth and smoke of this herb is helps to ease conditions such as bloating, diarrhea, low back pain, and cold hands/feet. Moxa is also known to help in the turning of breech babies.

Cupping

Cupping provides a ‘negative pressure’ that helps to lift the body’s tissues to create space and blood flow. This helps to mobilize and release organs, tissues, fluids and joints. Cups can be made from many materials: glass cups are used for more traditional fire cupping, mostly done on the back. Silicone cups glide easily over other areas of the body.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is generally done on the back of the neck, shoulders and back, but is also really helpful for tendon issues in arms and legs. It can provide relief from a variety conditions such as migraines, anxiety and shoulder and back stiffness and is also used for facial rejuvenation. The practice involves stroking the skin while pressing down with a Gua Sha tool. Traditionally a jade or bone tool is used, however at MiBody single-use recyclable tools are used for sanitary purposes.

Just a reminder to always have something to eat a couple of hours prior to your acupuncture appointment. The effects of acupuncture are far-reaching, when possible it's a good idea to have a low-key day after your treatment, save your big workout or night on the town for another day.

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a method of healing based on the concept that the body can formulate its own remedies against diseases when its parts are in a normal structural relationship, it has a normal environment, and it enjoys good nutrition. This deeply therapeutic approach involves the physical manipulation of tissue and bones, addressing every system to restore function and reduce complications that can prevent your body from healing itself. It uses the scientific principles that the structure of the body functions as a unified whole.

Osteopathy is covered by most insurance companies, with the exception of Industrial Alliance.
